Julia Hartshorne is the Founder of Achieve 2B. In 1988/1989 at age 16, Julia Hartshorne who has mild cerebral palsy completed a one year American Field Service (AFS) exchange program to the USA. This positive experience provided a part of the blueprint for her life.
During Julia’s career path as a social worker, she quickly developed a passion for working with people with disabilities. Julia became a lifelong champion of ensuring that people with disabilities were able to participate and be fully included in society.
Once Julia realised that young people with disabilities in New Zealand don’t appear to go on intercultural exchange programs, Achieve 2B was born out of Julia’s unrelenting desire to ensure that these young people were given the same opportunity to participate and reach their full potential from an intercultural exchange.
